MLS “Awards” – Team Most Likely to Win MLS Cup

While Los Angeles has won Supporters Shield (again), Seattle, RSL, Kansas City, and even RBNY look strong heading into the playoffs.  MLS Cup is the team who gets the parade and the ones who get to go to the White House to meet Obama as he scratches his head thinking, “who are these guys?” But we all know who they are.  Here are the most likely winners of that awkward trip to DC.

What the Panel Said:

Chris Ballard:
Probably LA because they have consistently been the best side. But I have a suspicion that New York will make the final.

Abram Chamberlain: RSL is faltering, LA can’t ever get it done in the playoffs, FCD or SKC could surprise a few people, but at the end of the day it is Seattle’s to lose.  So long as Mauro Rosales is back to 80%  and Seattle can get their first win in LA, I could see them competing for a treble this year.

Jason Davis: LA Galaxy, based on experience, quality, firepower, defending and the fact that Seattle has lost one of their best players to a knee injury.

Daniel Feuerstein: Los Angeles Galaxy, because they have been solid from start to finish.

Robert Jonas: With a roster that includes the deserved 2011 MLS MVP and Defender of the Year, not to mention set-piece specialist David Beckham, the runaway Supporters Shield winners look to add to their trophy case with their third MLS Cup championship later in November on their home field at the Home Depot Center.

Alexi Lalas: LA Galaxy. Most consistent, best defense, quality depth and overall confidence.

Jeremiah Oshan: Sounders because it’s too easy to say the Galaxy and I’m a homer at heart. Plus, they have a great collection of talent that is capable of winning anywhere, even if they haven’t won in LA yet.

Zac Wassink: Boring pick, I know, but I can’t pick against LA. Too good, too deep, the Cup is theirs to lose.
